Features
The Digital Gravelometer has a host of features to improve your productivity, giving you the information you need – fast.
Key features include:
- Intuitive, easy-to-use graphical interface
- Extensive documentation and guidance on field procedures
- Based on proven technology and thorough testing, published in Water Resources Research and Mathematical Geology
- Does not require calibration at each field site (but full control of grain-measurement parameters is enabled)
- Batch processing of samples (put the kettle on whilst the Digital Gravelometer processes your images)
- View (and save) intermediate steps in the grain-measurement processes to permit verification of the output from the grain-recognition procedures
- Customisable grain-size analysis report including:
- User defined or default percentile estimates (in mm, phi and psi)
- Standard grain-size distribution statistics (mean, sorting, skewness, kurtosis) based on moment or graphical methods using logarithmic, geometric and arithmetic methods
- Proportion of grains in Wentworth size classes, standard sieve size classes or user-defined classes
- Fully customisable graphical representation of the grain-size distribution as a histogram and cumulative curve
- Information about the project (client, operator etc.) and each individual image (filename, sample ID, collection date etc.)
- Output grain-size distribution analysis report to a web browser for viewing and printing, or export to a comma-separated variable file for further analysis
- Undertake analysis on a cumulative percent finer or coarser basis
- Combine grain-size information from multiple images into a single aggregated sample
- User defined upper and lower grain-size truncations
- Output on a grid-by-number or area-by-number basis
- Export raw grain-size, orientation, and shape information
Digital Gravelometer is a work-in-progress and we are constantly seeking ways to improve it based on feedback from our users. If you have a suggestion for how it can be developed to better meet your needs, please let us know by e-mailing us via info@sedimetrics.com.
